This is one of 5 events in the 2019 Heartland Women’s Series. We have some exciting new details to post about this very soon!
It’s been a few weeks now since this years KC Diva Spring Feeva and Women’s Global Event and we have more photos and video to share with everyone. We’ve really enjoyed all the stories and feedback.
The proud victories.
The first time tournament experiences.
The reunions of traveling players and new friendships formed.
The funny champagne stories and other shenanigans.
And of course, the great disc golf played all weekend!
Over the past 4 years, KC Diva Spring Feeva has evolved into something far beyond what we could have ever imagined. There’s a special energy in the air that words just cannot explain but it stems from our shared love of the game and respect for each other. It’s a sisterhood and celebration and each year you bring more friends to the party. Cheers!

So fun to see all the women from other cities coming back to Kansas City’s Diva Feeva every single year. Their numbers are growing and we’re definitely going to be incorporating a special award in coming years for the most Team Spirit!
It’s especially rewarding to see these ladies head back to their home towns with a freshly ignited passion to grow women’s disc golf in their area.
The Girlfriend’s Guide to Disc Golf is incredibly grateful to Rhonda Crosby for giving us the opportunity to participate in KC Diva and film at the event. We value all of the hard work that went into this tournament and the genuine love we felt for all the women who attended the event. This is an excellent example of how we should be growing the sport for women, and we at GG2DG hope to emulate this in Iowa.– Sammi Tounsley

There was so much excitement and energy leading up to this years Women’s Global Event and we all felt connected, even before the event itself. I’m sure I speak for all of you, how grateful we are to the PDGA Women’s Committee for all they have done with the WGE and women’s disc golf.
My favorite part of the Women’s Global Event is hearing the stories of ladies who made this their first tournament ever. Women’s tournaments in general are the best place to start off your tournament experience, and I’m so happy that many women decide to take the leap of faith each year. Events like the KC Diva Spring Feeva make ladies feel so welcome and supported that it creates the best foundation to build our field sizes.– Valarie Doss, PDGA Women’s Committee Chair

We were able to donate $200 to this great cause!
Our Juniors have grown over the past 4 years!

THE COURSES
Due to the loss of our beloved Swope Disc Golf Course, we had to choose a new home for Diva Feeva. We ultimately chose Rosedale Disc Golf Course, (Up Top course) which has been home to our women’s league for many years.
When registration opened in January 2018, we had a cap of 90 players. Five days later, we filled and began a waitlist! Exciting yes! The problem was that there were several other ladies that wanted to play but were not able to pull the registration trigger yet. It’s a Women’s Global year afterall and the more the merrier.
To increase the field beyond 90, we needed two courses but having ladies split across 2 separate locations is just not how we roll. Rosedale has two courses, Up Top and Down Under. However, not all of the Down Under course holes were appropriate for our beginner friendly event so we set out to figure out a way to create our own “Diva Feeva” signature courses.
To accomplish this, we reached out to some Kansas City folks we knew that could help with the new course designs to make Diva Green and Diva Pink courses a reality.
With an estimated 200 hours of work in the weeks before, our local volunteers were able to create these two unique courses using the existing courses multiple pin settings and some temporary tee pads. We received compliments all weekend on how wonderful the courses flowed and how beautiful and well maintained the park was.
Those flags were sexy!
Having the holes on each course clearly marked and identified was going to be key for overall play so we color coordinated with our own custom flags! Flags were also identified by the course sponsor. We’re extremely grateful to Dynamic Discs Kansas City (Green Course) and KC Disc (Pink Course) for their course sponsorships!
After Event Fun
Our new photo booth backdrop took a beating in the morning storm but eventually dried out. Happy to see the ladies having fun and using it.
No Diva Feeva tournament is complete without our traditional Flowers and Mimosas!
Banana CTP winners! A new tradition added this year. *see 2017 Diva Feeva for back story 🙂
Kansas City Supports Women’s Disc Golf!
I’d like to include a final thank you. Not only to our generous sponsors but to our entire Kansas City disc golf community! We have one of the oldest and most active disc golf clubs in the country and this is evident by the number of people that come out to support us. The KC Flying Disc Club and it’s members have encouraged and supported us from the beginning and continue in many ways throughout the year. Please continue to support our sponsors and Kansas City community of friends.
We were honored to have not one but FOUR Disc Golf Hall of Fame inductees at KC Diva Feeva this year: Rick Rothstein, Crazy John Books, Lynne Warren and Duane (CD) Steiner. I really wish we had taken a photo of them together. FAIL!
LOOKING AHEAD TO KC DIVA FEEVA 2019
We’ve already been discussing some preliminary plans for Diva Feeva 2019! No time like the present while it’s still fresh in our minds. Look for a survey coming soon because we’d love your feedback.
Hope to see you at an upcoming KC Divas league night or other women’s event this season. Omaha Ladies Open on July 14th is next stop on the calendar!
Much Love, Peace and Disc Golf!
Ben and Rhonda Crosby
Our mission from the beginning has been to provide an unforgettable disc golf experience for ladies of all ages. We strive for this each year and 2018 will be no different. This event could not have grown to be one of the premier women’s only events without the women that play in it each year.
Based on previous years, we knew we would fill at 90 players, but we never anticipated we would do it in less than a week! It’s YOU, the women that make it so special. Your friendships, love, encouragement, and feedback the last few years continue to motivate us
We also have a tremendous support system within our local community. Kansas City loves disc golf and supports women in the sport. You’ll feel and experience this from checkin to when you leave the course on Saturday.
Ok so on to the announcements and updates…
Registration Update:
It’s a Women’s Global Event so we said BOO to a waitlist! However, per Women’s Global guidelines “the exact same course layout must be used for both rounds”.
We didn’t want to split up across town if we could avoid it, and using all of the down under course made us a little nervous. With all that in mind and after MUCH discussion and consideration, we’ve got a plan! We will be creating 2 unique courses at Rosedale “up top” which will include utilizing some of the safer holes from the “down under” course. This will allow up to 144 women to play! The registration page has been updated and those previously on the waitlist have been promoted.
The final layout of these courses and schedule of play for divisions will be announced and posted as soon as we have that information available. Thanks for your patience. We’re excited about the possibilities!
Our Junior Divisions:
With a choice of playing just one round in the WGE, it was put to a vote and all the junior girls said “2 rounds please!” What champs! We currently have 6 junior girls registered- let’s invite more! If you know of a young lady that you think would have a great time and wants to meet some new friends, please share the event. We have a few junior sponsorships available. If the entry fee is of concern, please have them contact us and we’ll make sure to get that little detail worked out so they can play.
Division Changes:
If you want to change the division you are currently registered in, we ask that you contact us ASAP. Keep in mind, there are now caps on some of the Amateur divisions so we cannot guarantee that we can move you.
Official Withdrawal & Refund Policy:
We request that all cancellations be emailed to us at divafeeva@kcdiscgolfdivas.com.Withdrawal requests received on or before April 12, 2018 will receive a full refund. (Sorry but any paypal or disc golf scene fees are not refundable.)
Withdrawal requests received April 12 – April 27, 2018 will receive a full refund only if we are able to fill your spot. If we are not able to fill your spot, we will refund 50% of your entry fee.
Withdrawal requests received after April 27, 2018 will receive a full refund only if we are able to fill your spot. If we are not able to fill your spot, we will refund 25% of your entry fee.
Women’s Global Event:
In addition to a Diva Feeva players pack, all competitors will receive a Women’s Global Event (WGE) player’s pack as well. This year’s WGE players packs will be distributed virtually. From the PDGA Women’s WGE frequently asked questions page: For 2018, we have transitioned to an all Virtual Player’s Pack which will be available to all competitors of the WGE. Link to the Virtual Player’s Pack will be sent to all competitors via emails on or before April 30, 2018.
The charity the WGE is supporting this year is the Disc Golf Foundation. This organization has been involved in our sport for more than 15 years and is motivated to make a big impact in 2018. We look forward to supporting their mission to facilitate more female disc golf players by introducing disc golf to Girl Scout troops across the U.S. and internationally! More information about DGF can be found on the official Disc Golf Foundation website and DGF Facebook page.
You can follow along with the PDGA Women’s Global Event on social media to keep track of all event updates, giveaways, and announcements:

Thank you again to all our SPONSORS and VOLUNTEERS for making this event possible! We are proud and honored to host this event in Kansas City and partner with the best disc golf club in the country, the Kansas City Flying Disc Club. The Kansas City disc golf community has been behind this event from it’s inception and many look forward to it all year. From monetary and product donations to resources, supplies and an overwhelming number of volunteers and spectators, you are the wind beneath our wings!
Perfect spring weather, beautiful and talented ladies, supportive gentlemen AND DISC GOLF! We had quite a bit of rain here in Kansas City leading up to this event but we could not have asked for better weather the entire weekend. We kicked off on Friday and celebrated with a doubles event followed by a fun happy hour theme. It was hugs and high fives throughout the day as players, caddies and volunteers arrived. The great weather brought out a record 58 teams to play in the Spring Feeva Dubs. Happy hour with a complimentary taco bar and beer was a hit. Music and more gathering, chatting and fun times through the evening.
Saturday morning it was go time and the atmosphere and energy continued. Here are a few highlights.
Jennifer Allen competed in Diva Feeva for the first time this year and with an amazing score of 48 in round 1, helped her ultimately take home the win. We had an extremely talented field of 13 Open women including our 2016 champion, Paige Bjerkaas.
For our Junior divisions this year, we tried something new. With feedback from one of our local juniors, we designed a junior course within the main course layout using temporary tee pads. It was a shorter version but still had some challenging shots. These girls are so adorable together and inspiring to watch. Keep your eye on these young ladies in the future!
As is our tradition and how we roll here at KC Diva Feeva, the ladies were greeted with Roses and Mimosas as they came in from round 2 and cards were turned in.
Naturally there were a few ‘technical difficulties”. For example, the CTP flag did not make it out during round 2 for the AM divisions. Leave it to a group of women to find a solution and not make that a big issue – they used a banana instead. Debbie Polkinghorne was our first Banana prize winner!
The after effect ripples that this event creates is still happening! The ladies leave super-charged and on fire to get back home and get ladies together to play. We’ve seen posts from other women’s disc golf groups and leagues already making plans – love it! Shout out to all the ladies that returned to KC Diva Feeva this year and brought their friends! That’s what keeps this event growing.
Remember, the 2018 KC Diva Spring Feeva will also be a participating PDGA Women’s Global Event (WGE) and we hope to accommodate up to 144 women competitors!
We appreciate all the kind and encouraging words we’ve received. We welcome all feedback so please feel free to share your comments below.
Hope to see you all here in Kansas City in May 2018.

On May 14th at Swope Park Disc Golf Course in Kansas City, Mo an extraordinary event occurred. 89 ladies from 8 different states, from ages 7 – 60, shared a disc golf experience like no other here in the Midwest. 81 of the 89 actually competed, and for many it was their very first tournament experience.
This has been a dream come true for myself and my assistant director, Amy Crowe. Just seeing that many women competing and having a great time together brought a few tears throughout the day. Our mission with the Kansas City Disc Golf Divas has always been to grow the sport for women. We started doing this locally with our leagues and other activities. Now with this event, we have a greater reach and can share the sport with women in the entire Midwest. More women playing disc golf and more friendships made that we hope are for a lifetime.
This year we were also a part of the 3rd biennial PDGA Women’s Global Event (WGE) and over 1600 other women across 11 countries and 28 states also competed simultaneously in events like ours! Collectively, this created the largest PDGA sanctioned event for a single demographic ever. With WGE events held in the United States, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Estonia, Iceland, United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan, the WGE reached more new countries and countless new players from around the world.

The course was BEAUTIFUL thanks to Patrick Smith, Gary Birge and everyone else that played a part in setting up the Diva Feeva layout.
Special thanks and gratitude goes to Amy Crowe! She has put in countless hours of work helping organize the event. She is a tremendous asset to our team and a great friend. I could not have done this with out her.
Last but not least I thank my husband, Ben Crosby, who has supported me all these years with my mission to promote women’s disc golf. I can’t imagine having another Tournament Director for this event.
See you next year!
Much Love,
